High-risk rescue teams

Cascades of ice, canyons, a blazing inferno in the heart of a forest, nuclear power plant chimneys, toxic chemical leaks… None of these dangers are obstacles for these elite rescue teams. Super-trained firemen, they put their expert know-how to the service of emergency aid.

The total commitment of these athletes is rooted in great individual force and deploys itself at the necessary moment with the inherent precision of a specialist. For them, action takes priority once it becomes the essential: no beating around the bush or heavy sighs when it comes to intervening to save a life. If the high-risk rescuer can be considered a hero, it’s because he gives of himself, absolutely, without expecting compensation.

And all his training, all those long courses he followed will be of the utmost utility to him in succeeding in “saving and not perishing”; because in the heat of the action, in the imminence of a catastrophe, his technical skill is the only guarantee of his own safety, since he himself will go to extremes to save the victim from a fatal destiny.

A tour of France to meet these elite rescuers.
